The students of the MA Curating the Art Museum course at the Courtauld Institute of Art asked me to take care of the design for the exhibition they are asked to put on towards the end of their course, which they are then graded on. I created publicity material, including private view invitations, e-invites, and posters, as well as the exhibition booklet and wall-texts.
The exhibition was called 'Imagining Islands: Artists and Escape', and was in response to the Gaugin exhibition in the Courtauld Galleries next door. Gaugin escaped to the islands of the South Pacific where he continued his career, producing paintings of and inspired by the native peoples. The MA students were lent other works of art, including some contemporary, that further explores the theme of islands and escape in art.
